Roger Brooks’ involvement with the Victor started in 1966, three years after Cary Powers in his high flying U2 spyplane was downed by a Sovjet rocket. That resulted in “sudden death” for high flying bombers. The Victor was then converted to a tanker for in-flight refuelling. He writes on this aircraft in his book ‘The […]

The best-selling GA aircraft in the world; the Cessna 172! That’s where this book is about. What strikes you first, is that it is a small book (about 17 x 12 cm). The book is 128 pages thick and a ‘must have’ for every Cessna pilot and owner. From start to finish the book is […]

You must really love small aircraft an awful lot to be able to produce a book like this! More than 800 aircraft are listed in this bible of more than 400 pages thick! It is something like a Janes Defense…but then different. Not all ‘light aircraft’ are enlisted in this book, else it would be twice […]

In the past when I was young…30 years ago..or so.. the air was still congested with planes. At least in the Netherlands! Anyway, that is my experience. If it weren’t jets, then it was a Boeing E3A Centry and if it wasn’t a Boeing, than you would hear the unmistakable sound of a 2 engine […]

It was last year when I walked at Schiphol Airport on a early morning looking for a newspaper. If you can only buy the Dutch Telegraph that is not really a choice I thought. At that moment my eye fell on an English book with a picture of a Vulcan-aircraft on the front ; Җulcan […]

Review Bookreview: Modern Taiwanese Air Power, The Republic of China Air Force Today- Roy Choo, Peter Ho Again, a great edition out of the Harpia Publishing series, this time about the Taiwanese Aviation. I was walking into a bookstore (enslaved as I am) looking one or more interesting books. I bought two! In this book review I will discuss one of them, ‘The Flying Dutchman’ by Rudi Dekkers. This book was published in Dutch in 2008. In the English language, he published in 2011 the book ‘Guilty by […]

The Boeing Company is synonymous with twentieth century American technology and industry. From its humble start in a boathouse in Seattle, the Boeing Company has been a world leader in aviation history and the development of rockets and satellites. William Boeing, a lumberman, started the company in 1916. The young Boeing combined his robust love of […]

It is really one of the most fascinating and interesting books I have read about airships that explains and proves documented why airships and in particular Britain’s R101 were dangerous and doomed as a global air transport system. The backgrounds of the persons involved in the realisation of R 101 and their motives take an important of the book. Samuel Gwynne is certainly a very good story teller!
