Whether you are a man or a woman, if you have long suspected that it would be easier to live with a plane than with your spouse, here, at last, is a book which will provide you with 16 reasons why a plane is more rewarding than your wife, or 50 reasons why you are better off with a plane than with your husband.

The author enjoyed a successful career in journalism which she left behind when she decided to forge a second career as a pilot. From the moment she embarked upon this second phase of her life, she harvested all the humor couched in emails received from her friends, from conversations she had and from books she read.

I admit I was initially a bit disconcerted by Ziva Bergman’s book, because one expects pictorial humor from Martin Leeuwis Publications. But I quickly came round. All the sayings, stories, anecdotes, conversations and jokes she has collected have been neatly spread over 34 thematic chapters in a book of 145 pages. She assures us that not one word of the book is from her own pen, and that the reader may feel at liberty to copy any of it. This is a somewhat unusual statement and not often encountered in a book. Humor in and of itself! The thematic chapters sport titles such as ‘Female Pilots’, ‘S**t happens’ and ‘Sex and the Pilot’. I must say that this subdivision makes a nice and easy read. You can read selectively.

Despite the fact that the collector has written nothing herself, this is a charming book. It is fun to start your day with a joke and the material in the book is also ideal to fill a lull in the conversation at the bar of your flying club!

    ….pilots agreement:

Right Pilot: “Counting down. On zero turn left!”

Left Pilot: “did you say ‘left’?”

    Right Pilot: ‘Right!’

    Left Pilot: “Right…”
